This Memorial Day, we miss our fallen heroes. Like you, all of us at the Jay Heritage Center are also missing gathering with our friends and neighbors to honor those who made sacrifices for us. While we are more distant from each other than we like, with patience and perseverance, we can rise up even stronger.
In the meantime, let’s look back at the past decade. We are proud to have been part of flag and wreath laying ceremonies. In past years, young and old assembled on Rye’s Town Green, at Rye‘s African American Cemetery and more recently, at the historic Jay Cemetery. Starting in 2014, Jay Heritage Center’s horse drawn carriage became a huge family attraction in the annual Memorial parade. Robin Latimer and Rye’s American Legion Post 128 restarted this procession in 2014. It was an instant hit!
