Representatives from JHC, NY State Parks and Westchester County marked Earth Day 2026 by meeting at the Jay Estate for a tour of this National Historic Landmark site. Newly elected County Executive Ken Jenkins and his team were in attendance. County Executive reaffirmed his commitment to seeing that remaining environmental hazards at the Jay Property (the portion of the park owned 90/10 by the State and County) would be remediated as soon as possible under the terms of a public-private partnership agreement between JHC, NY State Parks and Westchester County.
Collaborations between the three partners have generated successful results for the public’s safe enjoyment of the entire 23-acre Jay Estate since 1992 when it was saved from development. Topics of discussion included the County’s Good Neighbor Policy, Rye’s 1991 Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP), documented archaeological and cultural resources and the 1997 County legislation that protects the watershed and watercourses of both the Jay Estate and Marshlands Conservancy. More meetings are promised for the future.
