The Jay Estate is a spectacular venue to make memories and preserve special moments through photography. We welcome you to apply for a permit to professionally capture your unique occasion. Permits are required for all staged photography using props or anything larger than a smartphone. This includes portrait photography as well as all wedding, proposal, quinceañera, family, maternity, prom, graduation, and any other posed portraiture of individuals by professional photographers, as well as semi-pro, pro-am or amateur photographers, whether paid or unpaid.
We require advance registration and same day permits are not available. Please make your request at least two weeks in advance by emailing Jay Heritage Center (JHC) Assistant Program Manager Meredith Slater and you will be sent a contact form to complete. All requested time slots are subject to site availability.
Jay Estate Gardens and Grounds: Total 1.5 hours $500.
Commercial shoots also require permits and there are also associated fees.
PHOTO SHOOT GUIDELINES
In preparation for your photo shoot, please note the following:
-
A staff member will greet your group on site.
-
Photo shoots cannot interfere with public access to the gardens, grounds and parking area and must respect the personal space of all visitors.
-
We must be advised of the number and type of vehicles in which you will arrive. Should you wish to include a vehicle prop for your photo shoot in front of the mansion, JHC must be informed prior to your visit and an additional fee of $50 will be incurred.
-
Upon confirmation of your booking, please let us know the name and mobile contact information of your photographer.
-
There are no refunds for cancellations made less than two weeks before your photography session and there are no refunds for inclement weather but every effort will be made to reschedule.
-
If you are going to be delayed, please call the JHC Office at (914) 698-9275. If you are more than half an hour late, we will try to accommodate you. However, should there be another photo session booked after yours, you may not be able to access all areas of the site and your end time remains the same. In these cases, the Jay Heritage Center does not issue refunds.
-
We do not allow rice, confetti, birdseed, decorations, rose petals, alcohol, smoking or music during event.
-
Your photo shoot date is not secure until JHC receives a completed form and 50% deposit. At that time a permit will be issued for the event to be presented upon arrival. Cancellations made at least one week or more before the date will receive a refund of any site fees paid beyond the $250 non-refundable deposit. Payment in full is expected one week in advance of photo shoot.
-
Photos with pets allowed on grounds but not in gardens. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
