We’re with the Bandits! Over 250 music lovers got out their lawn chairs and picnic blankets and spread out in front of the historic Jay Mansion on August 24th to hear the beyond joyous and creative Sydney Torin, Adrian Blake Enscoe and Regina Strayhorn, the three artists that make up the trio of bandits on the Run! They chose the Jay Estate as the grand finale stop on their 2025 Running on Summer Tour! The tunes they performed were both sophisticated and heavenly!
Known for their distinct combination of cello, guitar, accordion, and found-percussion with sophisticated three-part harmonies and rotating lead vocals, the Brooklyn-based outfit sprang from a chance encounter while busking in NYC’s bustling subways and burst onto the national stage in 2019 when their song, “Love in the Underground,” was featured on the NPR Tiny Desk Contest’s Top Shelf, with the esteemed tastemakers at the station proclaiming, “the band orchestrates a symphony of sound and story through its impressive musicianship and marvelous harmonies.”
For their fans who came from far and wide to Rye, they sang original hits including Spellbound, Hurricane and Let’s Go Below. They shared news and fresh songs from two current projects – a stage musical adaptation of the novel What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and an album of verse based on works of “The Bard” titled The Shakespeare Tapes. This was their second performance at the Jay Estate and they are bound to be back again
