Veterans Day at Rye’s African American Cemetery

This past Saturday, we helped commemorate Veterans Day through service with our colleagues Friends of the African American Cemetery, Inc.Volunteers cleaned the stones of interred veterans like Mike Paige, William Vorhis and others at the African American Cemetery in Rye, New York. The day was organized by Dave Thomas, Joan Grangenois-Thomas, Greg Arcaro and Tom Kissner. Descendants of those buried there together with government officials and members of the Port Chester/Rye NAACP participated.

The Cemetery is one of 13 sites like ours which is on Westchester County’s African American Heritage Trail.
