On Friday, November 15, about 50 5th and 7th graders from Resurrection School joined us for a free field trip to the Jay Estate. First, they saw Striving for Freedom, our tableau about the abolition of slavery in New York State and learned about social justice. Afterwards they toured the grounds and learned about the threat of invasive species to native plants in their own communities. Finally they held real artifacts in their hands and learned about the importance of archaeology at historic sites. The day was generously funded through grants from Con Edison and NY State Parks.
