Mary Norris Author Talk: “Greek to Me”

On Friday, April 17, JHC will welcome bestselling author Mary Norris, a writer for the New Yorker whose most recent book is “Greek to Me,” a charming memoir of her passion for all things Greek (a subject close to our hearts as stewards of the 1838 Greek Revival Peter Augustus Jay Mansion).

In the New York Times Book Review, Vivian Gorman called Norris’s book “one of the most satisfying accounts of a great passion that I have ever read.” Publishers Weekly described it as “an entertaining, erudite, and altogether delightful journey fueled by the love of language.”

As writers, we also loved Norris’s bestselling first book, “Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen,” about her work as a grammarian and copyeditor at the New Yorker. In the New York Times Book Review Patricia O’Connor called the book “hilarious…. This book charmed my socks off.”
