Tulip Workshop with Jan Doornbosch

On Sunday, November 7, Jan Doornbosch of International Bulb Company led a popular and fascinating workshop in the gardens about the history and anatomy of tulips, daffodils, and other bulbs.

Doornbosch discussed everything from the origins of the tulip trade, to the seventeenth-century tulip mania, to modern-day sourcing and planting. The workshop drew a lively crowd of more than 40 visitors, who ambled through the three garden rooms, and then gathered around a white board, where Doornbosch held his talk.

After his presentation, garden volunteers replanted the front room parterres with double white and Bleu Aimable tulips for a spectacular spring display in 2022.
