JHC Welcomes Office Manager Meredith Slater

The Jay Heritage Center is thrilled to welcome its next Office Manager, Meredith Slater! Slater brings an extensive background in non-profit leadership, marketing and volunteer engagement to the Jay Heritage Center. Prior to moving to Rye in 2021, she worked for more than a decade for non-profits in New York City, Chicago, and Louisville. Specifically, she was responsible for recruiting and onboarding volunteers at both Big Brothers Big Sisters and Court Appointed Advocates for Children (CASA). Meredith found a passion for community development as an exchange student in South Africa and her commitment deepened as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique, where she founded a nonprofit to support adolescent girls.

Meredith has a Masters of Social Work from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s Degree in African-American Studies from the University of Virginia. In addition to her professional experience, she has started a non-profit, volunteered on boards and completed community leadership programs. She loves getting involved in her community and brainstorming ways to make public spaces more available to the people they serve. She is excited to join the JHC and help grow its impact in Westchester and surrounding communities. Meredith lives near the JHC with her three children, who attend Osborn Elementary, and her husband, Andy.
